At The Press of Asia, we are transparent about how we use artificial intelligence in our newsroom. This policy outlines our approach and commitments.
- What AI We Use
We use AI tools for:
Research and drafting assistance: Finding public-source leads and preparing drafts for editorial review. Source pages and original documents must be checked directly; a generated citation is not proof that a source exists.
Copy editing: Grammar, spelling, and readability improvements.
Headline optimization: Generating alternative headlines for SEO and engagement.
Image alt text: Generating descriptive alt text for accessibility.
Data analysis: Processing public data for charts and visualizations.
- What AI Does NOT Do
AI is never used for:
Writing complete news articles without human review and editing.
Generating quotes, sources, or attributions.
Creating fake facts, figures, or witness accounts.
Replacing human editorial judgment.
- Human Oversight
Human editorial review is required before an AI-assisted draft is published. Rajnish Kumar, Founder and Editor-in-Chief, is responsible for checking the supporting evidence, wording and publication decision. AI output is not itself a source or a verification record. When an error is found, the article should carry the correction required by our Corrections Policy.
- AI-Generated Images
If AI-generated images are used, they are clearly labeled as synthetic content.
- Accountability
The Editor-in-Chief is ultimately responsible for all content published on this platform, regardless of whether AI tools were used in preparation.
