India’s contingent continued its campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Day 3, Saturday, July 25, with athletes competing across boxing, lawn bowls, swimming, artistic gymnastics, and 3×3 wheelchair basketball. The Indian team, comprising 124 athletes across eight able-bodied and five para-sports disciplines, is aiming for a strong medal tally despite the event’s scaled-down format this year.

Boxer Sachin Siwach represented India in the men’s 60kg category, while the women’s artistic gymnastics team of Pranati Nayak, Nishka Agarwal, Eshita Rewale, and Protistha Samanta competed in the team and individual qualification rounds. India also featured in bowls, with Putul Sonowal competing in the men’s singles sectional play.

India’s Medal Prospects and Key Performers

India has already secured a guaranteed medal with boxer Lovlina Borgohain receiving a bye straight to the semi-finals of the women’s 75kg category. The para-powerlifting contingent, including Sudhir, Jhandu Kumar, Ashok, and Parmjeet Kumar, has also delivered strong performances, with the Paralympic Committee of India expressing optimism about a record medal haul in para sports.

Star athletes including javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, who carried the Indian flag at the opening ceremony, are expected to compete in the coming days as the athletics and weightlifting events progress. The Sports Ministry has invested over Rs 53 crore in preparing Indian athletes for the Games, with athletics and boxing receiving the largest share of funding.
