The headline figures
Samsung C&T’s release gives the comparative figures in won, making it possible to assess both annual and quarterly changes without introducing exchange-rate effects. Revenue was also slightly above the second quarter, while operating profit rose more strongly.
Our calculation: Revenue grew approximately 18.3% year on year, calculated as (12.008 − 10.151) ÷ 10.151 × 100. Operating profit grew approximately 15.0%, using (1.143 − 0.994) ÷ 0.994 × 100. Values are rounded.
The comparison in one table
| Measure | Q3 2026 | Q3 2025 | Q2 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | ₩12.008T | ₩10.151T | ₩11.995T |
| Operating profit | ₩1.143T | ₩0.994T | ₩1.032T |
Our calculation: Dividing operating profit by revenue gives a Q3 2026 operating margin of about 9.5%, compared with about 9.8% a year earlier. Profit increased in absolute terms, but that ratio was slightly lower. A larger profit and a higher margin are therefore not interchangeable claims.
What selected businesses reported
The company puts engineering and construction revenue at ₩4.465 trillion, with operating profit of ₩277 billion. Trading and investment generated ₩4.200 trillion in revenue and ₩99 billion in operating profit. Its explanation points to project execution and industrial-material trading among the drivers.
These selected business figures should not be added together and presented as a complete reconciliation of group earnings. The headline company totals and each business’s contribution answer different questions.
Why the company name matters
Samsung C&T and Samsung Electronics publish separate results. A story about C&T’s construction or trading performance cannot establish the sales or profit of the electronics company’s memory-chip business. Readers following Korean corporate earnings should check the legal entity as well as the reporting quarter.
Annual comparisons also capture a different interval from quarterly comparisons. Here, revenue changed little from Q2, although it was considerably higher than Q3 last year. Looking at both avoids describing every increase as an identical growth trend.
What to watch
