TAIPEI, October 15: TSMC reported a 68.7% annual increase in third-quarter net income on Thursday, as its latest earnings release showed advanced semiconductor processes making up most of its wafer revenue.
What the quarterly figures show
The chipmaker posted net income of NT$763.06 billion on consolidated revenue of NT$1,494.24 billion for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Diluted earnings were NT$29.43 a share, or US$4.60 per American depositary receipt unit.
Revenue rose 50.9% from a year earlier in New Taiwan dollars. Measured in US dollars, revenue reached $46.72 billion, up 41.2% annually and 16.2% from the previous quarter.
Advanced manufacturing dominates
Processes of 7 nanometres and more advanced accounted for 79% of wafer revenue. The breakdown was 8% for 2nm, 33% for 3nm, 28% for 5nm and 10% for 7nm. Gross margin was 66.4%, while operating margin stood at 58.7%.
How to read the numbers
The different growth rates in US dollars and New Taiwan dollars should not be mixed. Comparing like-for-like currency figures gives a clearer picture of changes in reported sales.
The wafer figures are revenue shares, not the number of chips shipped. A higher share for an advanced process does not by itself reveal customer identities, individual product sales or how much of the business comes from artificial intelligence. Those conclusions require separate disclosures.
This report covers published operating results, not an investment recommendation.
