GANDHINAGAR, September 10, 2026: All 15 workers caught in a Gandhinagar slab collapse were rescued after an iron slab gave way at an under-construction commercial site in Kudasan on Wednesday night, according to reports citing local officials. Twelve workers were taken to hospital, while three were discharged after they were found to have no major injuries.
The incident triggered a large emergency response involving fire and rescue personnel, police, medical teams and heavy equipment. Officials focused first on locating workers and stabilising the damaged structure so rescuers could enter without causing a second collapse. Senior state and municipal officials also reached the site while the operation continued.
What happened at the Kudasan site
Initial accounts said workers were engaged at the project when a portion of the structure failed late in the evening. Early reports referred to an iron or concrete slab and scaffolding around the casting area. Because those descriptions were issued during an active rescue, the precise sequence remains subject to a technical investigation.
One preliminary account suggested that equipment may have struck part of the structure, while another described a failure during slab casting.
