Key highlights

  • Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon and Surat Thani face isolated very heavy rain.
  • Phuket, Krabi and other Andaman-coast provinces are among areas expecting heavy rain.
  • Waves may exceed two metres in thunderstorms.
  • Bangkok’s forecast includes scattered thunderstorms and gusts.

The regional outlook

TMD links the conditions to low pressure over the Andaman Sea, easterly winds and a high-pressure system extending from China. Its warning highlights flash floods, overflows and landslides near waterways, foothills and low-lying land.

AreaForecast emphasis
Southern east coastFairly widespread storms; locally very heavy rain in three provinces
Southern west coastHeavy rain possible in Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi and Trang
Bangkok areaScattered thunderstorms and gusts
Thunderstorms at seaWaves above two metres; ships advised to avoid storms

How to use a regional forecast

A regional warning describes a risk across an area and period. It does not establish that every road is flooded or that a particular ferry has been cancelled. For a journey, the relevant decisions depend on the latest local warning and the operator’s confirmed service status.

The distinction is especially useful for island travel: a forecast wave height is not a guarantee of conditions at every point along a route. Travellers should check the departure and destination information together, rather than relying on a photograph from one beach.

What to watch

Read subsequent TMD bulletins before travel and follow local safety directions. Any report of damage, rescue operations or casualties needs separate confirmation. The warning itself does not establish that such events have occurred.
