Ballon d’Or 2026 Time in India: October 27 Start, Asian Viewing Times and What to Watch

October 26: The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony begins at 20:00 GMT at London’s Palladium Theatre, according to UEFA’s official guide. For viewers in India, that means 1:30 am on Tuesday, October 27, rather than Monday evening. Across much of Asia, the ceremony falls in the early hours of the following day.

Key highlights

  • Official ceremony start: 20:00 GMT on October 26.
  • India’s corresponding time is 1:30 am on October 27.
  • UEFA directs viewers to its country-by-country broadcast-partner guide.
  • Nomination lists and predictions are not announcements of winners.

Ceremony times across Asia

LocationLocal ceremony startLocal date
London / GMT8:00 pmOctober 26
India / IST1:30 amOctober 27
Nepal / NPT1:45 amOctober 27
Singapore / SGT4:00 amOctober 27
Japan / JST5:00 amOctober 27

Our calculation: The table converts UEFA’s 20:00 GMT start using UTC offsets of +5:30 for India, +5:45 for Nepal, +8 for Singapore and +9 for Japan. These are ceremony times, not a promise that a particular broadcaster begins its programme at exactly that minute.

The date change is the main practical trap. A reminder set for 1:30 am on October 26 in India would be a day early. A programme listing may also begin with arrival coverage, discussion or interviews before the awards themselves. Check the event description as well as the clock.

Why this edition matters

The organisers are marking the award’s 70th anniversary. Created in 1956, the Ballon d’Or has been co-organised by France Football and UEFA since 2024. The organisers say the first London ceremony pays tribute to inaugural winner Stanley Matthews. The programme includes men’s and women’s awards, as well as categories recognising young talent, goalkeepers, coaches, clubs and strikers.

UEFA lists Thierry Henry and Kate Scott as hosts. Its women’s shortlist includes Japan’s Yui Hasegawa, Manaka Matsukubo and Momoko Tanikawa, giving Asian fans specific names to follow. Being shortlisted is an achievement distinct from winning; the final outcome must come from the ceremony or its official result announcement.

How to check where to watch

Use the broadcast-partner link in UEFA’s ceremony guide and select the relevant territory. Then confirm the programme in the broadcaster’s own schedule. This article does not name an unverified Indian channel or promise an unrestricted free stream.

Be cautious about videos recycling a previous year’s presentation under a current date. Compare the event year and description with the organiser’s page. A player lifting an award in an archive clip does not establish the result of tonight’s ceremony.

The same distinction applies to social-media polls and predicted rankings. They can indicate interest, but they do not substitute for the award process. A match played immediately before the ceremony also should not be treated as proof of how the already-defined award assessment will conclude.

What to watch

The official winners, the order in which categories are announced and any organiser clarification of the results will be the substantive developments. For now, this is a viewing guide published before the announced start, with the local date conversion made explicit.
