The Election Commission has ordered a Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls in 17 states and Union Territories, with January 1, 2027 as the qualifying date. The October 15 order sets a timetable for eligible voters to seek inclusion and correct their records.
The dates to know
| Draft rolls | November 12, 2026 |
|---|---|
| Claims and objections | November 12–December 11, 2026 |
| Disposal deadline | December 28, 2026 |
| Final rolls | January 4, 2027 |
The covered states and UTs include Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Other jurisdictions have separate schedules; this is not an identical nationwide deadline.
Which form applies?
The order specifies Form 6 for ordinary inclusion claims, Form 6A for overseas electors, Form 7 for objections or deletion applications, and Form 8 for corrections or shifting residence. Applicants should consult their electoral registration officer or the official voter-service platform for their particular case.
The timetable does not itself confirm that an individual’s name has been added. Check the relevant published roll and retain the application acknowledgement. This summary draws on the commission’s order linked from NDTV’s report, rather than treating political allegations about earlier revisions as established findings.
