The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has swept back to power in Kerala after a decade in opposition, winning 102 seats in the 140-member assembly and decimating the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) of CM Pinarayi Vijayan.
The Left’s Collapse
The LDF was reduced to just 26-35 seats — its worst performance in decades. CPI-M leader and incumbent CM Pinarayi Vijayan, who had successfully won back-to-back terms in 2016 and 2021, will now vacate the CM’s chair.

- LDF reduced to 26 seats — Left abolished from power for first time in decades
