Pakistan’s E-Commerce Market Reaches $3 Billion as Digital Payments Surge

KARACHI – Pakistan’s e-commerce sector has expanded to $3 billion in annual transactions, representing 45 percent year-over-year growth. Digital payment adoption accelerates online shopping participation across urban and rural areas, establishing Pakistan as South Asia’s fastest-growing e-commerce market.

Mobile commerce dominates Pakistan’s digital retail landscape. 78 percent of online transactions occur through mobile applications, reflecting smartphone penetration and mobile payment adoption.

Local e-commerce platforms including Daraz, Telemart, and Albayaa have established market leadership positions. These platforms facilitate over 100 million transactions monthly involving 30 million registered users.

Digital payment infrastructure development enables secure online transactions. Mobile wallet services including JazzCash and EasyPaisa process $2 billion in monthly transactions across Pakistan.

Logistics network expansion supports e-commerce growth. Regional logistics providers establish distribution centers across 50 cities, enabling two-day delivery to 95 percent of Pakistan’s population.

Small and medium business participation has doubled through e-commerce platforms. Over 50,000 SMEs utilize digital retail channels to reach nationwide customer bases.

Government initiatives including tax incentives for e-commerce enterprises and digital payment regulations have accelerated sector growth.

Cross-border e-commerce enables Pakistani businesses to export products internationally. Pakistani sellers generate $500 million annually through cross-border digital platforms.

Experts project Pakistan’s e-commerce market will reach $8 billion by 2028, establishing the nation as South Asia’s e-commerce hub and creating 200,000 digital economy employment positions.
