NEW DELHI, September 10, 2026: The Apple iPhone Duo India price will start at ₹2,99,900 for the 256GB model, making the company’s first foldable iPhone one of the most expensive mainstream smartphones sold in the country. Pre-orders open at 5:30 p.m. IST on October 16, with availability beginning October 23.
Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo on Wednesday as its biggest change to the iPhone form factor since the original model. The phone combines a 5.4-inch outer display with a 7.6-inch folding inner screen, runs iOS 27 and uses the A20 Pro processor. It will be sold in Star White and Night Sky finishes.
iPhone Duo prices in India
- 256GB: ₹2,99,900
- 512GB: ₹3,24,900
- 1TB: ₹3,74,900
- 2TB: ₹4,49,900
The prices are listed on Apple’s India store and may differ from effective prices offered through eligible card promotions, trade-ins or financing. Buyers should compare the final payable amount and read the terms rather than relying only on monthly instalment figures.
Two displays and a new hinge design
When closed, iPhone Duo uses a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR outer display designed for one-handed tasks. Opening the device reveals a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR folding display with a nano-texture finish intended to reduce glare. Both panels support ProMotion, the Always-On display and Dynamic Island.
The body uses a titanium frame and hinge cover. Apple says the hinge and layered inner display are designed for durability, but long-term performance will become clearer only after independent testing and extended real-world use. Foldable phones place unusual stress on the hinge, flexible panel and protective layers, so repair terms and accidental-damage costs will matter to buyers.
A20 Pro, battery and cameras
The Duo is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro with a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU and dual 16-core Neural Engine. A custom vapour chamber and dual-battery architecture are intended to manage heat across the thin folding body. Apple lists up to 44 hours of video playback using the outer display and up to 31 hours on the inner screen; actual endurance will vary with brightness, network use and multitasking.
The rear system includes a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera. The folding design enables a rear-camera selfie preview, a subject-facing preview and hands-free shooting when the phone is partially folded. There is also a 12MP Center Stage front camera and an under-display FaceTime camera for use with the larger inner screen.
iOS 27 adapts to a foldable screen
Hardware is only part of the challenge for a foldable phone. Apple has redesigned parts of iOS 27 so apps can move between the outer and inner screens and run side by side in Split View. Users can open two apps, launch two windows of the same app in supported cases and save app pairs for quick access.
Third-party app support will be central to the experience. A large folding display is most useful when apps resize cleanly, preserve state and take advantage of extra space instead of simply stretching a phone interface.
Who is the iPhone Duo for?
At nearly ₹3 lakh for the entry model, the Duo is aimed at early adopters, professionals who value a pocketable large screen and buyers deeply invested in Apple’s ecosystem. Customers focused on conventional camera versatility, lower repair risk or value may find a standard iPhone or competing foldable more practical.
The product’s importance extends beyond first-year sales. It signals that Apple now sees foldables as a permanent smartphone category and gives developers a reason to design more adaptable iPhone apps. The market response will show whether that software integration can justify the premium price.
