What is happening, where and when
Invest Hong Kong’s event listing places the main conference at the convention centre and describes community and networking events across several venues. The government’s October 23 programme announcement forecasts more than 1,000 speakers and 800 exhibitors and startups, alongside over 30 delegations.
| Programme element | Published plan |
|---|---|
| Event week | November 2–6, 2026 |
| Main conference | November 2–3 |
| Main venue | Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre |
| Core themes | Finance+, AI+ and global expansion |
| Additional activity | Community events, networking and business matching |
The distinction between the main conference and the full week matters for visitors. An event listed later in the week may take place at another venue and may have separate registration arrangements. A main-conference pass should not be assumed to include every associated activity.
The agenda beyond the headline technology
The official programme identifies forums covering policy, AI and deep technology, digital assets and Web3, AI in finance, China-global innovation, insurance and health technology, green technology, startup ventures, builders and creators. These are different discussions: a demonstration of a product is not the same as a regulatory decision about whether it can be sold.
For startups, the useful questions are practical. Which customer problem does a product solve? Who is responsible when an automated decision goes wrong? Can a proposed service operate across markets with different rules? Networking may open conversations, but partnerships and commercial results require separate confirmation.
The event announcement presents Hong Kong as a connection between mainland Chinese and international markets. That is the organisers’ stated positioning. Attendance forecasts, investment ambitions and promotional descriptions should be assessed against the deals and operational changes actually announced during or after the week.
Why regulation will be closely watched
In a separate October 26 coordination meeting, the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau said regulators discussed proposed regimes for virtual-asset dealing, custody, advisory and management services. The same account records updates on AI adoption, Project Ensemble, banking-sector quantum preparedness, Commercial Data Interchange and Project CargoX.
These subjects explain why the conference matters beyond its exhibition floor. Banks, technology providers and investors need to understand how new tools fit existing obligations and whether proposed rules become final requirements. The October 26 account describes discussions and progress reports; it does not by itself mean every proposed regime has taken effect.
For a business considering a new service, identify the relevant regulator and the exact announcement rather than treating a conference presentation as permission to launch. Where a speaker describes a pilot, look for its scope, participating institutions and evaluation criteria.
What to watch as the week begins
Useful follow-up will include official policy releases, details of pilots moving into regular use, and named partnerships with measurable terms. Watch whether announcements describe a proposal, a test or an operational service. For attendees, confirm the venue and registration requirements directly with the organiser before setting out.
This preview reports the published programme ahead of opening. It makes no claim that forecast participation has already been achieved or that a scheduled session has produced a final agreement.
